“The Temptation Reloaded” was a show from India combining Shakrukh Khan, Rani Mukherjee, Preity Zinta and Bipasha Basu together. The artists were invited to dance and sing along to popular Indian songs.
Green laser lights and lit-up drums with matching multimedia effects enhanced the show, which was presented by MD Entertainment in cooperation with music promoter Java Musikindo.
The theme of colors ran throughout the show. It was every inch of Bollywood live at the Sentul International Convention Center on Saturday.
Like most Indian shows, an emcee is a must. Manasi Scotts, also a singer, welcomed the audience with a song.
The real temptation started with the dancers coming in with bright orange feather half moon-shaped fans. The male dancers dressed in shiny orange tops and black skirt pants carried the stunningly voluptuous Bollywood starlet Bipasha Basu.
The actress made her entrance dressed in a spaghetti strapped blouse matched with a long skirt with a slit up one side. Bipasha sashayed into a medley of three songs with the first “Bipasha” moving seamlessly into “Dum Maro Dum”. In the next song “Bidi Jalaile Jigar se Piya” she changed into a pink sequined skirt.
“Bipasha” proved herself a woman with both beauty and brains at the press conference. She said, “Like any other job, what is important for an actor is you understand the business and you love your job.”
This is her second visit this year. Earlier she was invited to perform at a birthday bash of an Indian conglomerate.
Lights dimmed, drums beat and the male and female background dancers dressed in silver satin, bounced all over the stage. Preity Zinta entered in a red strapped top with matching pants, dancing into the song “It’s the time to disco”.
Given a gap of a minute for the next tune “Where’s The Party Tonight?” she deviated into a shimmering white tank top matched with a lame mini skirt. Preity surprised the viewers by walking down from the stage and dancing through the crowd making the fans scream in delight. In the last song of the medley “Mahi Ve”, Preity wore a ghaghra choli (sari blouse worn with a flowing skirt). Unlike the other the three artists who have previously visited Indonesia, this was Preity’s first trip to Indonesia.
After Preity’s performance, the screaming grew louder as the crowd guessed who the next artist was. Lights went down and only neon colored drum sticks were seen pounding the illuminated drums. The stage brightened. Rani Mukherjee was seen rising up the stage wearing a black coat and mini skirt with silver embroidery.
Male dancers wearing turquoise silver-studded suits carried her to the center of the stage. One of them handed Rani a white guitar and she started to sing the song “Koi Mil Gaye” from the super blockbuster movie Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Although the movie is almost fourteen years old, it is still played on TV channels to this date. Most of the songs from the movie are very popular with Indonesians.
Rani became a household name even though she played only a minor role in Kuch Kuch Hota Hai. Rani continued to boogie; the next tune segued into the song “Dil Bole Hadippa”, “Tauba Tumhare Yeh Ishare”. In the last medley “Dhadak Dhadak” she wore the same top with a long flowing pink skirt.
“My existence is because of you fans. As long as the love is there we will always exist” said Rani at the press conference.
The show had three breaks with Manasi Scotts singing and the winners of the Dance India Dance 2012 filling in. To the vocal, mostly female, audience, Manasi introduced the next performer.
Shakrukh, Badshah of Bollywood or “King of romance” roared up in a Harley Davidson motorcycle. He swayed through the song “Ladki Badi Anjani Hai” from Kuch Kuch Hota Hai which faded into Akon’s “Chammak Chalo”, “Yeh kali kali Ankhen” and lastly “Criminal”.
Like Preity, Shahrukh went the down from the stage and walked among the audience pausing to speak to his fans.
In an interview at the press conference the day before, Shahrukh said: “I never do any film wanting to please anyone. I do it because I enjoy doing so and I hope people enjoy it too. Sometimes I succeed, sometimes I don’t.”
“The bottom line is that it makes me happy doing what I enjoy. I need to be happy with my work to be able to spread happiness” When asked if he could sing he replied, “It doesn’t matter whether I can sing or not or whether I can dance or not. What is important is that I love you all.”
His next acts involved stints with a fan and a couple from the audience. Sharukh pointed at a fan
from Malaysia. He wooed her through a song and made her “his princess”. Sharukh then asked for a couple to come up on stage. Actor Sultan Jorghi went up on stage with his wife, actress Anissa Banowati. Shahrukh “taught” Sultan how to treat a woman.
The finale of the show had Shahrukh swaying with the three ladies to the tune of “Jaanam Deklo Mil Gaya” from Veer-Zara and “Dewangi” from Om Shanti Om.
Kishore Kumar an Indian based in Jakarta said, “it was amazing to see so many locals loving Shahrukh Khan. I was surprised to hear them sing the songs!”
“I find Shahrukh Khan down to earth. It touched me when he greeted us with Assalamualikum [traditional Muslin greeting]”. Another audience member, Noorie, said.
