Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta culinary team wins big at Indonesia Salon Culinaire 2013

he eight-strong culinary team of the Mandarin Oriental, Jakarta, swept four medals, including one gold, at the recent 10th Indonesia Salon Culinaire of the Food and Hotel Indonesia 2013 Expo.

Competing in five categories, the team brought back one gold medal, one silver and two bronze in the competition, held at the Jakarta Exhibition Center, Kemayoran, from April 10-13. It also received diplomas of distinction.

The team won its gold medal for the Pasta Culinary Junior Challenge (an individual main course by Fatwa Annisa from Lyon'€™s kitchen), while the pairing of Kiki Djohari and Luthfi Abriansyah secured silver medals for their Bocuse d'€™Or Challenge.

Two bronze medals were awarded to Trimega Wilaputra and Bayu Adhi Nugroho for the Tabasco Challenge and Inspiring Individual Hot Cooking Challenge, while Dudu Sujana and Andris Juliawan were awarded diplomas for the Australian Beef Challenge.

Executive chef Thierry Le Queau provided intense training for team members in cooking to a strict time frame while retaining a high standard of taste, texture, finesse, presentation and hygiene.
