South Korean prosecutors have pushed the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) to continue its investigation into an alleged bribery case pertaining to the construction of a coal-fired power plant known as PLTU Cirebon-2 that implicated an Indonesian official and an employee of a South Korean company.

The antigraft body named Sunjaya Purwadisastra, former regent of Cirebon in West Java, a suspect in the case for allegedly receiving Rp 6 billion (US$368,493) in bribes from Herry Jung, then general manager of Hyundai Engineering and Construction, a company that in 2015 became the main contractor in the power plant project.

Jung was also named a suspect in the case by the KPK, which accused him of bribing Sunjaya pertaining to the licensing process for the Cirebon-2 power plant project in the regency.

KPK investigators summoned Jung for an interrogation that lasted 11 hours on Monday. The day after, they questioned Cirebon regency civil servant Rita Susana Supriyanti at the KPK headquarters in Jakarta.
