he Tangerang General Elections Commission(KPU) has announced its intention to set up polling stations at Soekarno Hatta International Airport to accommodateworkers.
'We will work closely with the central KPU to determine the number of polling stations needed,' said Ahmad Syailendra, head of Programs and Data for the Tangerang KPU, on Wednesday.
He said that the new polling stations were meant to accommodate voters employed at the airport.
'The polling stations will be for workers, not for passengers,' said Ahmad, as quoted by Antara news agency.
According to the latest data, as many as 1,859 people will be working the morning shift at the airport on April 9.
However, Ahmad added that only 635 out of 1,859 workers' data were in line with the regulations.
Currently there are 11 companies operating within the airport's fence, including PT Garuda Cargo and airport operator PT Angkasa Pura (tjs/dic)
