ollowing the recent arrest of a teenage murder-suspect couple, police arrested another teenager, identified as AS, in Bogor, West Java, on Friday for allegedly killing a junior high school student on Sunday.

The victim, Yohana Febri Nugraha, 14, was found dead on a patch of wasteland in Pamulang.

South Jakarta Police detective Adj. Sr. Comr. Noviana Tursanurohmad told tribunnews.com that the police had arrested AS, 17, at 12:30 a.m. at his house in Gunung Sindur, Bogor, after a three-day investigation.

It is alleged the murder was the result of a motorcycle theft gone wrong.

Noviana explained that AS had been in contact with Yohana through Facebook. Last Thursday the two had exchanged telephone numbers and arranged to meet on Sunday in Pamulang.

Yohana was killed on a plot of wasteland, before her motorcycle was taken to a tire booth near AS'€™ home. Noviana said this was done to avoid arousing the suspicions of AS'€™ neighbors.

'€œBy doing this, he could easily sell the motorcycle the next day,'€ he added.

AS'€™ arrest makes him the fourth teenager to be implicated in a murder case within the last two weeks in the Greater Jakarta area.

One case involved Ahmad Imam Al Hafitd, 19, and Assyifa Ramadhani, 19, who allegedly killed Ade Sara Angelina Suroto, 19.

The victim'€™s body was found last Wednesday on the Bintara toll road in Bekasi, West Java.

Hafitd and Assyifa are suspected of murdering Sara because Hafitd had been left brokenhearted after Sara, his former girlfriend, refused to communicate with him, while Assyifa, his new girlfriend, was jealous of Hafitd'€™s obsession with Sara.

Mia Nuraini, 16, from Cilandak, South Jakarta, was killed on Wednesday by her former boyfriend, identified as A, 17, in Terogong, South Jakarta.

A allegedly wanted to attack Mia'€™s new boyfriend, Sony, 17, because of an earlier altercation between the two. A tried to strike Sony with a motorcycle gear-chain tied to a rope. However, Sony avoided the weapon only for it to hit Mia.

Youth psychologist Tiwin Herman said on Friday that the recent murder cases indicated that many youngsters were struggling to control their emotions.

'€œNowadays, teenagers in Greater Jakarta are more likely to adopt the values of their peers,'€ she said, adding that the frequent occurrence of brawls between neighborhoods gangs indicated that the teenagers were becoming temperamental, aggressive, violent members of society.

Tiwin explained that three environments impacted on the lives of the young: home, school and societies or peers.

Ideally the home is the ideal place to teach children how to control their emotions, but due to the trappings of modern lifestyles youngsters tended to be more emotionally attached to their peers than their parents, she said.

She went on to suggest: that parents mast take a more active role: '€œI am afraid, such cases of violence may happen again and again if parents are not aware of this problem,'€ she said. (ask)
