he Surabaya administration has decided to file a civil lawsuit and a police report against PT Unilever Indonesia, the holding company of Wall's ice cream, for destroying Taman Bungkul, one of the city's landmarks.
Mayor Tri Rismaharini said the administration had lost more than Rp 1 billion (90,909) due to damage caused by an event that distributed free ice cream in the park on Sunday.
'Beside the park, the green line spanning 1 kilometer along Jl. Darmo was also damaged,' Risma, as the mayor is affectionately known, said on Monday as quoted by tribunnews.com.
'We have reported the case to the police,' she added.
Unilever's corporate communications head, Maria Dewantini Dwianto, has apologized to the mayor and pledged to pay for the damage.
Risma was enraged on Sunday after learning that a great number of plants in the park had been destroyed after being trampled by visitors trying to get the free ice cream.
