fter being formally appointed as coordinating economic minister, business tycoon Chairul Tanjung confirmed that he had relinquished all his positions in each company that he ran.
He said he made the move in order to prevent a conflict of interest in his job as a minister.
Chairul ran an array of businesses, from mass media to retail, under one holding company, Trans Corp.
He was appointed coordinating economic minister by President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono to replace Hatta Rajasa, who is a vice-presidential candidate.
Chairul will be a minister for the next five months.
"My resignation [from Trans Corp] is aimed at maintaining good governance," he said at the State Palace in Jakarta on Friday as quoted by kontan.co.id.
The President is scheduled to inaugurate Chairul into his new position on Monday. (nfo)
