Kukkiwon team visits Indonesia

he Korea-Indonesia Taekwondo Festival Day 2014 was h held on Sunday to promote the sport among the local yout youth with the hope of lifting the country'€™s taekwondo perform formance on the global level.

Th The one-day event, co-organized by Indonesian Taekwon kwondo Association (PBTI) and the Korean Embassy, featured artistic and fightin fighting demos by young Indonesian athletes as well as the visiting Kukkiwon taekwondo team from South Korea.

'€œKorea'€™s taekwo taekwondo is world-class and Indonesian taekwondo is heading that way. We wantwan to make this collaboration a success,'€ said Rezky Kim Seok-gi, the director of the Korean Cultural Center.

Before the demo ini Jakarta, the Kukkiwon team had a two-day visit to Bali, where they also gave a class.

Kukkiwon'€™s visit is part of wider Korean-Indonesian cooperation in the sport, which also includesincl sending Indonesia officials to improve their coaching skills in Korea.

Rezky added that Korea was keen to share its experiences and knowledge about organizing the Asian Games.

'€œAlthough IndonesiaIndones didn'€™t win as many medals as expected in Incheon, I'€™m convinced the countrycou has a bright future in the sport,'€ he said.

Indonesia, which p participated in 23 of 36 sports at the Incheon Asian Games, brought hom home four gold, five silver and 11 bronze medals.

The taekwondo te team is among those which failed to contribute a medal to the Indonesian deleg delegation.

Jakarta will host th the next Asian Games in 2018.
