G

olkar Party chairman Aburizal Bakrie has appointedsenior lawmaker Ade Komaruddin as leader of the party'€™s political faction atthe House of Representatives.

Ade made the announcement on Friday at the House compound in Senayan, Central Jakarta.

'€œToday I am announcing the line-up of the Golkar Party faction leadership at the House. The advisors for the faction are Pak Idrus Marham, Mahyudin, Setya Novanto and Nurdin Halid. And the chairman will be myself, Ade Komaruddin,'€ Ade told reporters.

Ade replaced his predecessor Setya Novanto, who is House speaker.

There are five deputies under Ade: Bobby Adityo, Melchias Markus Mekeng, Firman Soebagyo, Zulfadli and Ferdiansyah.

Serving as secretary is outspoken lawmaker Bambang Soesatyo.

Nurdin was a graft convict who served two years in prison and paid a fine of Rp 30 million (US$3,198) for his role in a corruption case related to the misuse of palm oil distribution funds at the State Logistics Agency (Bulog) in 1998.

In 2012, the Golkar faction at the House fired Mekeng from his position as chairman of the budget committee due to graft allegations.
