n probably the biggest upset of the season, defending champion and top-ranked WISCI was brought down by ninth-ranked Ceylon in Division I, while TKCC and Metro Indians posted routine wins in Division II of the Apple Coal Jakarta Cricket Association (JCA) League 2014-2015.
In an extraordinary low scoring game at Cibubur, batsmen from both sides seemed to be on a hara-kiri mission. First it was Ceylon's batsmen who were all out for 75 runs and then it was WISCI batsmen's turn to crumble for 63 runs.
For WISCI, Big Dave and Anant took three wickets each. What should have been a cakewalk became a nightmare for WISCI, as it was reeling at 38/7 in 12 overs before earning the dubious distinction of being dismissed for its lowest ever total.
For Ceylon, Asanka took four wickets, including three in one over, and Mukesh took three wickets. It may be too early to write off WISCI, but opposition teams are now consistently denting its aura of invincibility. This was the third loss for WISCI this season out of seven matches, which in terms of statistics is more than all the losses it has suffered in the last two seasons.
At the Gandhi ground, Gowda brothers Rakesh and Nagesh helped TKCC beat Tigers easily by 147 runs. TKCC put on 267/7 in 34 overs and then bowled out Tigers for 120 runs. Rakesh scored 72 not out and Hitesh made 66 runs. Sachin and Melwin took two wickets each. For TKCC, Nagesh and Hitesh took four and three wickets, respectively.
In an earlier match at Cibubur, Metro Indians' Prabhu Kaliraj (91) and Anand (63 n.o.) combined to easily overcome Mavecrics' score of 181 runs. Metro reached the victory target in 24 overs, losing only two wickets. Panditji Samir made 47 runs and Anand claimed three wickets.
WISCI, India XI and GMIS CC lead Division I, while Fez Rebels, Metro Indians and Mavecrics lead Division II.
