wo ships, named the Hyn 16 and Hyn 19, caught fire in Jakarta Bay, about 1.5 miles from Pantai Mutiara in Penjaringan, North Jakarta, on Wednesday.
One crew member, identified as Ruslan, 28, from Gresik, East Java, died from burns he received in the incident. Two others, Aliong, 25 and Rizal, 19, also suffered extensive and severe burn injuries.

According to a report in Warta Kota, the fire started when the Hyn 16, with a cargo of sand, was about to be refueled from the Hyn 19, a fuel tanker. As the two ships were being connected by the fuel hose the oil caught fire, leading to an explosion aboard Hyn 19. The fire quickly spread to Hyn 16.
Director of the water police, Sr. Comr. Makhruzi, said the fatality and casualties were aboard the Hyn 19. 'We are still investigating but the crew of Hyn 16 seem to have escaped unharmed,' he said.
