Tambak and Manggarai residents were involved in a communal fight on Christmas Day, throwing stones at each other in the morning.

'€œThey used stones and machetes. When the fighting broke out there were few police officers in the vicinity,'€ Wilson, a resident, said on Thursday as quoted by tribunnews.com.

The brawl was the second in the past few weeks. The first was on Nov. 29, in which serious injuries were sustained, with several residents reportedly being wounded by arrows and broken bottles.

The hostility between the Tambak and Manggarai communities has been ongoing for years with no one entirely clear as to the cause of the feud.
