lag carrier Garuda Indonesia launches a chartered flight service from Chengdu, China, to Denpasar, Bali, on Friday in a bid to help the government increase the number of visitors from China to Indonesia.
Garuda flight GA 6210 took off from Chengdu International Airport at 2 a.m. on Friday to Ngurah Rai International Airport, Antara news agency reported.
According to the carrier's vice president for the China market I Wayan Subagia, Garuda runs a Boeing B747-400 with 20 business class seats and 435 economy seats on the Chengdu'Denpasar route.
'We are going to provide the chartered flight service until March 29,' Wayan said.
He explained that the services had begun on Jan. 29 from Xi'an to Bali followed by flights from Shenyang, Cheng Zhou and Tiayuan before the Chengdu route took off on Friday.
'We are going to launch a service from another city, Chongqing, this Saturday,' he said, adding that Garuda was also set to connect Ningbo, Wuhan and Nanjing to the Island of the Gods.
A number of passengers from Chengdu expressed their eagerness to visit Bali to Antara.
'I have never visited Indonesia, including Bali. This service is attractive and it makes me happy,' said Zhun Lu Jie, who was traveling with her mother, aunts and friends.
Garuda currently provides daily scheduled flights from Jakarta to Beijing, Shanghai and Guangzhou and also from Denpasar to Beijing. (nfo)(+++)
