oreign Minister Retno LP Marsudi says that the withdrawal of Indonesian Ambassador to Brazil Toto Riyanto is to remain effective for an unlimited time as the evaluation of Indonesia-Brazil ties is still ongoing.

'€œ[Toto'€™s pullout is] for an unlimited time,'€ she said after accompanying Toto to meet with President Joko '€œJokowi'€ Widodo at Merdeka Palace in Jakarta on Tuesday.

Toto was recalled after Brazilian President Dilma Rousseff'€™s recent move to unilaterally cancel receiving a letter of credentials from him in apparent protest of the Indonesian government'€™s decision to execute a Brazilian drug convict, along with ten other drug or murder convicts, next month.

The foreign minister also summoned the Brazilian ambassador to Indonesia to explain the government'€™s stance on the planned execution and to deliver Indonesia'€™s note of protest to the Brazilian government.

'€œWe took the three measures at 10:11 p.m. on Friday night and we delivered our strong protest [through the Brazilian ambassador],'€ she said as quoted by kompas.com.

Toto, accompanied by the minister, met the President to explain what had occurred with the Brazilian president but he declined to discuss details with the media.

According to recent reports, Dilma canceled receiving Jokowi'€™s letter of credentials for Toto when Toto and four other ambassadors were at the Presidential Palace in Rio de Janeiro to hand over their letters to the Brazilian leader.

Besides Brazil, the Netherlands and Australia have also protested the death sentences but the Indonesian government has repeatedly explained the country's firm stance on capital punishment for those involved in drug trafficking, which is believed to have damaged Indonesia's younger generation.

Jokowi said on Monday that the government was evaluating the two countries'€™ bilateral ties in all fields, including bilateral trade and military ties. Vice President Jusuf Kalla said the government was reconsidering the ongoing procurement of a squadron, or 16 units, of Brazilian-made EMB-314 Super Tucano aircraft. (rms)(++++)
