Airport provides bus service to taxi zones

S

oekarno-Hatta International Airport is providing a free bus service to take passengers to taxis located beyond the perimeter of the airport, enabling them to avoid long queues during peak hours and traffic jams.

Five buses each with the capacity to carry 25 passengers have been operating for the past two weeks. The airport provides three buses while taxi operators Blue Bird and Express provide one bus each.

'€œThe idea behind the feeder buses is to help passengers get a taxi to Jakarta at certain times of the day," senior general manager of state airport operator PT Angkasa Pura II for Soekarno-Hatta International Airport, Zulfahmi, said as quoted by Antara news agency in Tangerang, Banten, on Friday.

"Sometimes taxi trips to and from Jakarta are delayed by traffic jams while many passengers use taxi services.'€

There are two feeder bus routes. Those provided by Blue Bird and Express take passengers from the airport to the Rawa Bokor taxi buffer zone while those provided by the airport operator take passengers to Pantai Indah Kapuk taxi buffer zone.

Passengers can then take a taxi that does not have an airport-taxi sticker from either buffer zone. Only taxis with airport-taxi stickers are allowed to pick up passengers at the airport.

Long queues often happen during peak hours as there are more passengers than taxis with airport-taxi stickers.

The buses operate according to the number of available airport taxis. (fsu/nvn) (++++)
