fter months of investigating, Jakarta Police have declared that a biology student at the University of Indonesia (UI) named Aksyena Ahad Dori did not commit suicide.
Jakarta Police spokesperson Sr. Comr. Muhammad Iqbal said Thursday the conclusion was reached after Jakarta Police's General Crime Directorate held a case expose and thoroughly examined evidence.
'After examining the result, we reached the conclusion that Aksyena did not commit suicide,' Iqbal said as quoted by tribunnews.com.
However, Iqbal admitted that the Jakarta Police and the Depok Police have yet to identify Aksyena's murderer.
Jakarta Police General Crime Directorate head Sr. Comr. Krishna Murti mentioned a few pieces of evidence that led them to conclude it was a murder rather than a suicide. One such piece of evidence was a suicide note that was not identical to Aksyena's handwriting.
'We also suspect that Aksyena died before someone threw him into the lake,' he said.
Previously, the Jakarta Police insisted that Aksyena died by suicide by drowning himself in the UI lake in Depok, West Java, after they found a suicide note. The statement was strongly rejected by Aksyena's father who believed his son would not commit suicide.
