Contact with a chartered EC 130 helicopter was lost after it departed for Kualanamu International Airport from Siparmahan village, Harian district, Samosir regency, North Sumatra, at 11:30 a.m. local time Sunday.

The helicopter, belonging to air transport company PT Penerbangan Angkasa Semesta, was piloted by Capt. Teguh Mulyanto and had one engineer, Hari Poerwanto, and three passengers on board.

Samosir Police chief Adj.Sr.Comr. Eko Suprihanto said the police had not received any information on whether it had crashed or had made an emergency landing somewhere.

'€œWe don'€™t know its whereabouts. The helicopter departed at 11:30 a.m. and its whereabouts remains unknown,'€ said Eko as quoted by kompas.com.

The helicopter was reportedly chartered by Marihad Simbolon, a businessman from Samosir living in Jakarta.

The helicopter arrived at Marihad'€™s house in Siparmahan village in Harian district, Samosir, at 10:30 a.m. on Sunday. After dropping Marihad and his family, the helicopter took off at 11:30 p.m. and was scheduled to arrive at Kualanamu Airport around 45 minutes later. (ebf)
