National scene: PDI-P to build Sukarno museum in China

T

he Indonesian Democratic Party of Struggle (PDI-P) says it plans to construct a museum to honor Indonesia'€™s first president Sukarno in the Chinese city of Shenzen.

Head of the party'€™s international relations department Andreas Pereira said that the PDI-P would collaborate with the Chinese Communist Party in the construction of the small museum, which will be called '€œSukarno House'€,

'€œWe hope that the Sukarno House can bring the two countries together and improve cooperation,'€ Andreas said as quoted by tribunnews.com.

Sukarno was the father of party chairperson Megawati Soekarnoputri.

Megawati held a meeting with Chinese President Xi Jinping in Beijing in October this year.

Megawati said that her meeting with Xi was part of efforts to improve relations between the two countries.

Before meeting Xi, Megawati held a series of meetings with senior figures in the Chinese Communist Party as well as speaking in a discussion titled '€œPolitical Leadership: New Consensus for Party Politics'€ at the International Conference of Asian Political Parties (ICAPP).
