he Yogyakarta administration has designated the Malioboro area as a semi-pedestrian zone and a free-from-parking zone.
Starting Tuesday, motorists who previously parked their motorcycles on the eastern side of Malioboro must park at the three-story Abu Bakar Ali parking lot at the northern end of Malioboro.
A parking-free Malioboro will provide more convenience for tourists and pedestrians.
“We hope pedestrians and tourists in Malioboro will be more comfortable,” said Yogyakarta Mayor Haryadi Suyuti.
