View all search resultsajor taxi operator blue bird has joined the many members of the public claiming that the removal of the three-in-one traffic policy on May 16 has worsened congestion.
“The removal of the three-in-one added more vehicles. This has become a new challenge for us,” said Blue Bird director Adrianto Djokosoetono during a press briefing at Hotel Gran Mahakam in South Jakarta on Thursday.
The three-in-one traffic policy on Jl. MH Thamrin, Jl. Sudirman and Jl. Gatot Subroto was halted by Governor Basuki “Ahok” Tjahaja Purnama because he was concerned that children were being exploited as joki (passengers for hire) to meet requirements that a vehicle must contain at least three people.
Its effectiveness has been questioned ever since it was introduced in 1993. However, its removal has worsened traffic congestion because the city administration has not introduced any alternative policy to replace it. (bbn)
