tate-owned airport operator Angkasa Pura (AP) II estimates that the new terminal of Soekarno Hatta International Airport has a business potential of Rp 500 billion to Rp 700 billion annually.
Terminal 3 Ultimate will have a commercial area of 70,000 square meters, providing space for around 180 tenants to capitalize on the business potential from 25 million passengers expected to pass through the terminal per year.
"The ballpark figure of the business potential is Rp 500 billion to Rp 700 billion per year," said AP II president director Budi Karya Sumadi in Jakarta on Thursday.
To increase the value of the new terminal, AP II's airport services and facilities director Ituk Herarindri said there would be an art exhibition every three months to attract passengers as well as the business tenants.
Several other fine artworks will be displayed in the new terminal, including a 400-square-meter painting by Sardono, an aluminum rainbow landscape by Eko Nugroho, a traveler statue by Edi Prabandono and a stainless steel monument of signs by Tromarama.
“The creation process of those artworks is already 70 to 80 percent complete. We hope the artworks can be displayed after Idul Fitri [estimated to be on July 6],” said AP II vice president of airport services Eka Maria. (ags)
