Indonesian kart racer from the Riser ShaDaff team Sergio Noor secured the pole position at the Rotax Max Challenge Thailand series’ Micro Max class held in Bira circuit in Pattaya on Sunday. The elementary school student also managed to showcase excellent speed from the training sessions and qualifiers through to the final season.

Sergio faced tough challenges from local racer Krit Boonyang and Malaysian talent Oscar Ng Kok Tung. He managed to defeat Oscar with only a 60-second time difference.

“So far this is the fairest race I’ve ever had,” Sergio, who has been fasting during the race, said in a statement sent to The Jakarta Post on Tuesday.

Sergio, whose older brother Barrichello Noor is also a kart racer, dedicated the trophy to his parents, who have just celebrated their 17th wedding anniversary. Previously, Sergio and teammates have raced in various circuits in Malaysia and Spain

Sigid HS of Kratingdaeng, one of the team’s sponsors, praised Sergio’s victory and stated his readiness to support the young racer’s career ahead.

“Deeply appreciate the struggle. Keep on making us and Indonesia proud,” he said.
