State-owned energy giant Pertamina is considering contingency plans to secure fuel supplies during the return Idul Fitri exodus, which is expected to begin this weekend.
ertamina VP of Corporate Communications, Wianda Pusponegoro, said Pertamina has been monitoring fuel distribution and is therefore making assurances that there will be enough for everyone for the next 28 days.
"We have been learning from previous experiences. Thus, we have deployed better anticipation plans to ensure adequate fuel stocks," Wianda said in a statement on Thursday.
She added that one of the contingency plans was to provide additional Pertamax kiosks, including rest areas that have no filling stations. In addition, Pertamina will implement contraflows to deliver fuel to filling stations, deploying mobile fuel tanks equipped with Premium nozzles and also motorists who would carry 40 liters of Pertamax to the location of travelers who run out of fuel.
"For a streamlined fuel supply and distribution, Pertamina will cooperate closely with the police, including to prevent illegal purchase of fuel by retailers," Wianda said.(dic)
