Jakarta elections commission to deploy over 90,000 personnel in upcoming election

The Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU Jakarta) is preparing to recruit 91,161 officers who will be assigned at 13,023 polling stations across the city for next month’s gubernatorial election.

he Jakarta General Elections Commission (KPU Jakarta) is preparing to recruit 91,161 officers who will be assigned at 13,023 polling stations across the city for next month’s gubernatorial election. 

"Every polling station will be served by seven officers [on average]," KPU Jakarta chair Sumarno was quoted saying by Antara on Wednesday.

Two security guards would also be deployed at every polling station, he added.

Meanwhile, KPU Jakarta commissioner M. Sidik said the recruitment period would be open until Jan. 14. 

According to Sidik, most of the officers are coordinators at community units (RW) and neighborhood units (RT) who have no political party affiliation or are members of a candidate’s campaign team. (dmr)
