task force to curb illegal levies will start working on inspecting public service offices in West Jakarta on March 20, an official has said.

“The public has been informed about the task force’s existence through banners at district, subdistrict and public service offices,” West Jakarta deputy mayor Muhammad Zen said.

Jakarta administration launched the task force, dubbed Illegal Levies Eradication Unit (Saber Pungli), on Feb. 3.

West Jakarta’s Police deputy chief Sr. Comr. Adex Yudiswan said the task force’s priority is to prevent illegal levies.

The task force will inspect any illegal levies in licensing; social aid and grants; education as well as in the products and service procurement sectors.

“They will also inspect services provided by the police, such as in driving licenses [SIM], vehicle registration certificates [STNK] and police clearance letters [SKCK],” Adex added. (jen)
