orruption Eradication Commission (KPK) prosecutors will further dive into procurement-related aspects of the e-ID graft case allegedly connected to defendants Irman and Sugiharto, two former high-ranking Home Ministry officials, in a hearing on Monday.

“In the eighth hearing, the prosecutors will probe alleged irregularities in the e-ID procurement process,” KPK spokesperson Febri Diansyah said on Friday.

He further said KPK prosecutors planned to present seven witnesses before the judge panel at the Jakarta Corruption Court in Monday’s hearing.

Among witnesses prepared to testify include officials from the Finance Ministry, the Home Affairs Ministry, the National Procurement Agency (LKPP) and the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology (BPPT). In addition to the two Home Ministry officials, the KPK has also named businessman Andi Agustinus alias Andi Narogong and Hanura Party lawmaker Miryam S. Haryani as suspects in the case.

The KPK named Andi a suspect on March 23 following his arrest in Tebet, South Jakarta. Andi allegedly bribed several lawmakers and Home Ministry officials in order to secure a project worth 5.9 trillion (US$442.71 million).

Miryam was named a suspect by the KPK on Wednesday for allegedly providing a false statement in a hearing on March 23, during which she claimed she was intimidated by KPK investigators into making her statement. (mrc/ebf)
