resident Joko "Jokowi" Widodo distributed 3,000 packages of staple goods to residents in Ciawi village, South Bogor, West Java, on Wednesday as part of his 56th birthday celebrations.
Accompanied by his wife and children, as well as Cabinet Secretary Pramono Anung, Jokowi arrived at the location at 8:54 a.m. and was welcomed by thousands of residents holding the staple goods coupons.
He handed over the staple goods and even shook hands with some of the residents, who enthusiastically greeted him, some even shouting "Happy birthday Pak [Mr.] Jokowi."
"Thank you, Pak Jokowi for the presents. I have not checked the contents yet, but thank you pak and happy birthday," a 45-year-old woman named Puji said as quoted by tempo.co.
After Ciawi village, Jokowi was also scheduled to hand over packages of staple goods in Caringin village, also in Bogor.
Jokowi, the seventh president of Indonesia, was born on June 21, 1961, in Surakarta, Central Java. (yon/dmr)
