ar and motorcycle owners in Tangerang, Banten, flocked to the Vehicle Document Registration Center (Samsat) in Cikokol on Wednesday morning, the last day to pay late vehicle taxes and vehicle ownership transfer fees (BBNKB) without incurring penalties.
The Banten Tax Agency set its vehicle tax amnesty from Aug. 1 to Oct. 31 at all Samsat across the province.
Zulkarnaen, 37, who got ticket number 48 in the long line at the Cikokol center, said he arrived at 7 a.m. to find the Samsat already crowded.
“I just found the time to [pay the tax] now, as I was busy with work. It would have been extremely unfortunate if I couldn't do it today, [as] tomorrow I would have to pay the penalty,” he said on Wednesday as quoted by wartakota.tribunnews.com. “I haven't paid the tax for two years,” he added.
Separately, Sari echoed Zulkarnaen's sentiments. The 28-year-old Tangerang resident had come to Samsat Cikokol to transfer ownership of her car.
“I asked my office for permission [to take a day off]. It is rather troublesome going back and forth, and also getting the vehicle checked, too,” she said.
Samsat Cikokol billing and receipts head Idham Arief said earlier that the vehicle tax amnesty aimed to ease the financial burden for vehicle owners in Banten while increasing the province's tax revenue. (sau)
