olice investigators on Monday night wrapped up their hours-long search of the office and residence of Kohod village head Arsin in Tangerang, Banten, as part of the probe into the illegal erection of a sprawling bamboo fence off the coast of the regency.
The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim) is looking into the alleged falsifying of right-to-build permits (HGB) and ownership certificates (SHM) for plots of land on the shoreline facing the bamboo fence in Kohod, Pakuhaji district, which borders real estate megaproject Pantai Indah Kapuk (PIK) 2.
The barrier, which spans 30 kilometers in the waters of six districts in Tangerang, went viral last month because of its unexplained origin, sparking a debate about the issue of unlicensed land reclamation.
The police confiscated several documents from Arsin’s office, Antara reported.
While Arsin is not a suspect in the case, he reportedly has been rarely seen since the Agrarian and Spatial Planning Ministry began scrutinizing the status of land in Kohod on Jan. 24.
Bareskrim general crimes director Brig. Gen. Djuhandani Rahardjo Puro said on Tuesday that Arsin “has been questioned as a witness in the case”, as quoted from the police official news channel.
Besides Arsin, 43 other witnesses have also been questioned since the police began the investigation on Jan. 10, following instructions from National Police chief Gen. Listyo Sigit Prabowo.
