he administration of Bone regency in South Sulawesi has decided to postpone its plan to increase the land and building tax – rural and urban (PBB-P2) following protests, as discontent grew nationwide against such property tax hikes.
Acting Bone regency secretary Andi Saharuddin said the regency administration would review the 65-percent PBB-P2 hike
“Of course, with the incident today and paying close attention to and communicating with various parties, including the regent and the Home Ministry,” Saharuddin said on Tuesday, as quoted by detik.com.
“Ultimately, the leadership told us to postpone [the planned hike] and provide information about the adjustment.”
Saharuddin said the 65 percent increase in the PBB-P2 was canceled, in line with the central government’s directive on PBB-P2 in Bone regency.
“We have postponed this increase and we will review it,” he said.
“Residents who have paid the increase should not worry. We will adjust it.”
