More charging stations opened for electric vehicles
State energy holding company Pertamina on Monday opened four electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, called Green Energy Stations (GES), following the opening of similar facilities as a pilot project.

tate energy holding company Pertamina on Monday opened four electric vehicle (EV) charging stations, called Green Energy Stations (GES), following the opening of similar facilities in a pilot project.
Pertamina president director Nicke Widyawati said the company would open more charging stations to anticipate disruptive innovation in business because of the emergence of electric vehicles that would gradually substitute vehicles that use nonrenewable energy.
"The GES will function as recharging stations as well as swapping stations for mall motorbikes with EV batteries," Nicke said during the opening of the stations in Jakarta on Monday.
She further explained that the GES had three concepts – solar energy power plants in gas stations owned by Pertamina, EV charging stations, as well as cashless payment and self-service known as myPertamina.
Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Ignasius Jonan stressed that the opening of the GES was not only part of Pertamina's effort to face global business challenges in the energy industry, but also realize the government's program on renewable energy.
"We congratulate Pertamina's initiatives to apply renewable energy in its business line. I hope solar panels will also be used at its stations," Jonan said.
Previously, the Agency for the Assessment and Application of Technology had kicked off operations at two electric vehicle charging stations at its offices in Central Jakarta and at its energy-conservation technology center in South Tangerang, Banten, on Wednesday.
A noted carmaker had also opened a charging station as after-sales service for its customers. (das/bbn)
