Switzerland Tourism’s Southeast Asia office in Singapore, in cooperation with the Swiss Embassy in Indonesia, recently organized the Switzerland Travel Experience (STE) Southeast Asia 2019 gathering in Jakarta to attract more Indonesian tourists.

“We are happy to announce that last year [2018], Indonesian tourists contributed 97,235 overnight stays in Switzerland,” Swiss Ambassador to Indonesia Kurt Kunz said at an appreciation dinner at the Dharmawangsa Hotel on Monday night.

Around 30 stakeholders from Switzerland and Southeast Asian countries as well as several Indonesian tour operators attended the dinner.

According to Swiss Tourism’s Southeast Asia director, Ivan Breiter, Switzerland was one of the most attractive countries in the world with snow-capped mountains, glaciers, awe-inspiring nature, crystal clear lakes and rivers, clean air as well as beautiful medieval and boutique towns.

Switzerland, Breiter said, was not just famous for its chocolates, watches and banks, but also a country of quality, adding that it had a perfect and seamless public transportation system. The country has 26,000 kilometers of rail, road and water routes.

Of late, Indonesian tourists are showing an increasing interest in Switzerland because of its beauty and quality.
