Interpersonal relationships can wound and interpersonal relationships can heal. It has also become an aphorism that people who are closest to you are those capable of hurting you the most.
To discuss the complicated and confusing subject of human relationships, two Jakarta-based book clubs called Semacam Book Club (Some Kind of Book Club) and the Baca Rasa Dengar (Read Sense and Listen) community will team up to organize a meeting to discuss books on the subject of relationships and friendships.
The event will be hosted on July 20 from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. by the @america cultural center in Pacific Place shopping mall, South Jakarta. The event is open to the public; no registration fees or RSVP required. Just walk into @america and bring any book from any genre that you feel has taught you a lot about relationships and friendships.
Baca Rasa Dengar, a non-formal group, was established in February 2015, joined by Jakarta’s young professionals who share a love for books and films. Semacam Book Club, also a non-formal group, meanwhile, was established this year. Both clubs have become a platform where youngsters from the millennial generation can share their love for books and stimulate their intellect while providing each other emotional support so that they can cope better with the challenges that await them in their personal and professional lives.
