nternational food and beverage company Danone Indonesia has once again been named the Best Company to Work for in Asia by HR Asia, an international publication focused on human resources professionals.

HR Asia Award is an awards program for organizations who have been validated by their employees as one of the best companies to work for. This is measured through best human resources practices, high levels of employee engagement, as well as a supportive work environment.

For 2021, the Best Companies to Work for in Asia awards was also held in other countries, such as China, the United Arab Emirates, Hongkong, Malaysia, the Philippines, Singapore, Thailand, Taiwan and Vietnam. Approximately 280 companies were nominated in Indonesia, with Danone Indonesia chosen as the winner along with 29 other companies.

The occasion marks the second time Danone Indonesia received the award for its commitment to employee development.

The company was also named one of the Most Caring Companies during the WE CARE Awards. It was one of 10 companies in Indonesia to receive the award, which recognized Danone Indonesia’s commitment to running a range of initiatives to ensure the health and wellbeing of its employees.

Accepting the award virtually on Tuesday, Danone Indonesia CEO Connie Ang said it was an honor to be recognized for the second time.

“At Danone, we always strive to give employees the best working environment, providing an opportunity for them to grow and flourish while keeping in mind health and safety aspects, which are especially crucial during the pandemic. By taking care of our employees, we believe that this impacts our ability to ensure the health of Indonesians through access to hydration and nutrition,” she said.

During the pandemic, Danone also worked to adapt accordingly, switching to digital interactions and applying cross-functional collaborations internally. The company also prioritizes the health of its employees, providing health guidelines and healthy kits, including vitamins and hand sanitizer, as well as developing touchless facilities, monitoring and evaluating employees periodically holding workout programs and vaccination drives.

“We had to quickly adapt by applying a contactless work method, adopting a culture of empowerment instead of supervision, applying new abilities, interpreting data and implementing digitalization,” Connie said.

Danone Indonesia’s initiatives during the pandemic were also greatly appreciated by its employees, with survey scores well surpassing the industry average in terms of collaboration, comfort in working and support for employee welfare.

“For us, this award is not an end goal but a reflection for the company to provide the best for our stakeholders, including employees as our talents. Of course, we also hope that the award can inspire the public or other companies to hold similar initiatives to benefit the public and environment around them,” Connie said.
