P

icture this: you’re in your senior year of high school, with dreams of international education, extensive networking opportunities and promising job offers, with perhaps a lively student life on the side.

Then you turn on the news.

Maybe it’s the plummeting exchange rates, or perhaps it’s the gradual yet steep rise in the cost of living, but a full four years abroad can seem rather exorbitant in the current situation.

Or it might not even be money in the bank you’re worried about. You might just dread missing life events and the inevitable homesickness that would follow, only flying back home during the summer break before jetting off again for the fall semester.

But despite all of that, you still want to hold on tight to your dreams.

As it turns out, however, you can still have both Indonesian and global study experiences with international double-degree programs.

Essentially, students enroll in two programs in two different universities in a single regular time period, allowing them to complete their studies in less time that it would take to earn both degrees separately.

For example, BINUS International offers double-degree programs in a range of majors, including Computer Science, Creative Digital Communication, Business Information System, Graphic Design & New Media, Business Management and Marketing and International Business.

Students enrolling in the program can choose between the 3+1 and 2+2 study model, offering an immersive global studying experience without leaving Indonesia for an extended time, along with receiving a degree from BINUS International and the partner university.

In the 3+1 model, students spend three years studying at BINUS International and one year at a partner university abroad, making it ideal for students who want to experience studying abroad for a shorter period before returning to Indonesia.

Meanwhile, the 2+2 model allows students to complete the first two years of their program in Indonesia and the final two years at an international partner university, providing a more immersive global experience as students spend half of their academic program abroad.

As an internationally recognized university, BINUS International placed 951-1000 in the QS World University Rankings 2025 and the number one spot in Indonesia.

In addition, it’s one of the few universities to be certified by the Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB), Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology (ABET), Indonesian Accreditation Board for Engineering Education (IABEE), ASEAN University Network-Quality Assurance (AUN-QA) and the Higher Education Evaluation & Accreditation Council of Taiwan (HEEACT).

These achievements ensure a smooth partnership and collaboration between BINUS International and a number of highly reputable universities abroad, including La Trobe University, Macquarie University, Queensland University of Technology, RMIT University, University of New South Wales and University of Wollongong in Australia; Victoria University of Wellington in New Zealand; Boston University - MET College in the United States; Bournemouth University, Edinburgh Napier University, University of Nottingham and Northumbria University in the United Kingdom; Cologne International Business School in Germany; Saxion University of Applied Science in the Netherlands; and Solbridge International School of Business in South Korea.

With most of the benefits and less of the hassle, perhaps the double-degree program is truly the best of both worlds.
