BOGOR: Public Housing Minister Yusuf Asy'ari officially opened two low-cost blocks of flats for university students in Bogor, West Java, Monday.
One of the blocks was for students from Ibnu Khaldun University and the other was for those from Djuanda University.
The minister said the universities must prioritize students from low-income families to live in the flats.
Ramly Hutabarat, the rector of Ibnu Khaldun University, said the university would decide on the flat's rent in accordance with the minister's suggestion.
"There will be around 400 students living in these low-cost flats, and we will prioritize students from low-income families, *the students will pay* rents of Rp 100,000 *around US$10* a month, a fee that is far cheaper than boarding houses near the campus," he said. - JP
