Daniel Mananta: Only use gadgets when necessary (Tribun Jakarta/Jeprima)" border="0" height="403" width="499">

Presenter and entrepreneur Daniel Mananta resorts to wielding multiple gadgets to help him handle a ton of work during the day, but stashes them away to enjoy quality social time.

The 32-year-old entertainer started his career after winning a video-jockey hunt for MTV Indonesia in 2003. He has since made a name for himself, serving as the host of Indonesian Idol since 2006.

Coming from a family of entrepreneurs, Daniel has established a number of creative businesses, including the hip fashion line Damn! I Love Indonesia and the production house Damn! Inc.

After appearing in front of the camera in a number of movies and soap operas, Daniel recently took a big step forward to become one of the executive producers of The Mo Brothers’ thriller Killers.

Between presenter gigs and making important business decisions, Daniel relies on three smartphones that remain on his person whenever he goes.

Although many Indonesians have abandoned this once very popular brand of gadget, I still use one. I use my BlackBerry [BB] for a single purpose: BlackBerry Messenger [BBM]. I don’t use it for anything else. People ask, why not install the BBM app on the other gadget? And get those silly broadcast messages all over my gadgets? No way.

I’ve lost my BB multiple times, but it has always found its way back to me.

I handle two Instagram accounts, one for my entertainer profile and the other for the fashion line, using this smartphone. I upload my videos through the Vandroid.

I don’t have special budget to upgrade my gadgets. I only buy the latest release of a brand if I really like it.

iPhone 5s

I use the iPhone for most of my personal communication. I manage two Path accounts from it. I bought the latest version because I lost my iPhone 5. I actually downgraded to an iPhone 4, but it was too slow. I gave it to a friend and bought the 5s instead.

I don'€™t know how much time I spend each day on these gadgets, but I am trying as best as I can to keep the number of hours to a minimum. I will spend a lot of time on the gadgets, handling the multiple social media accounts, when I have to do a promotional job or when I am campaigning about something.

Nowadays, I try to stay away from looking at my smartphone when I am talking with other people. When I'€™m with my family or out with my friends, I'€™ll keep the gadgets from distracting my quality time.
