wo people identified as Kifli, 25, and Riri, 15, were killed in a fight between residents of Jl. Kelapa Tiga and Jl. M. Yamin in Makassar on Friday evening.
Besides Kifli and Riri, who died of wounds caused by shots fired
from an air rifle, two other residents, Reza, 15, and Yeyen, also suffered gunshot wounds in the brawl and were now being treated at Pelamonia Hospital.
Makassar Police chief Comr. Fery Abraham suspected the brawl was driven by revenge and said such incidents were common.
'We are still investigating who did this,' Fery said on Saturday.
Dozens of police officers were deployed to the area to calm residents.
Makassar Deputy Mayor Syamsu Rizal said the municipality had conducted meetings among elders, religious leaders and youth leaders in a bid to prevent such brawls, but such efforts had failed.
