ive thieves posing as policemen forced their way into the residence of Hiwan in Aren Jaya, East Bekasi, at dawn on Sunday, stealing 3 kilograms worth of jewelry.
Spokesman for the East Bekasi Police, Adj. Comr. Siswo, said in Bekasi on Sunday that the thieves stole the jewelry from the second floor of the house.
He said that the thieves took the jewelry after pulling a gun on Hiwan's wife, who was sleeping in a room on the house's second floor.
Under duress, Hiwan's wife opened a cabinet and gave the thieves a box containing 3 kilograms worth of jewelry, Rp 40 million and US$4,000. The jewelry comprised necklaces, bracelets and rings. The thieves also took five cell phones.
'After taking all the jewelry, money and cell phones, the thieves left,' he said as quoted by kompas.com.
The thieves forced their way into the home as Hiwan's nephew, Guntur, was locking up the residence's gate. One of thieves reportedly got out of a white sedan and approached him with a gun in his hands.
The man was reportedly wearing an ID card that had a logo similar to that of the Jakarta Police.
