A 32-year-old man, identified as Fadel alias Pade, was killed in clashes between two youth groups in Duyu subdistrict in Tatanga, Palu

City, Central Sulawesi, on Sunday. The victim suffered a gunshot wound to the thigh.

Palu Police chief Adj. Sr. Comr. Basya Radyananda said that groups from two different community units (RW) in Duyu started brawling after two men from RW 1 passed through the RW 3 area driving a loud motorcycle while shouting swear words early Sunday.

'€œMen from RW 3 stormed RW 1. Police arrived at the scene around 3 a.m. to disperse the people. However, at around 10 a.m. men from RW 1 returned the attack,'€ Basya told The Jakarta Post.

More police and military personnel have been deployed to Duyu to safeguard the area. '€œI have ordered an investigation,'€ Basya said.

Duyu subdistrict is among a number of areas in Palu where brawls often occur. (***)
