Jakarta's parks need urgent community care

Several of Jakarta'€™s parks are in urgent need of attention, says Freeletics fitness community founder Handriono Prasetyo.

He said that several parks in the city were dirty and disorganized, giving the impression that they were far from safe or comfortable.

Handriono says that his community, which uses parks as a venue for their activities, has taken action by repainting some features of Taman Kerinci in South Jakarta.

'€œWe are happy with this repainting job as we really need a wide open green space with shady trees for sporting purposes,'€ he said on Saturday in a campaign with paint company Mowilex as quoted by Antara news agency.

Freeletics is a community that takes part in high intensity training.

Meanwhile, Mowilex head of marketing Ari Krismono added that his party had restored three parks in the city, namely Taman Kerinci and Taman Tebet in South Jakarta, and Taman Sumarrecon in Kelapa Gading, North Jakarta, as well as Taman Paramount in Serpong and Taman Bintaro in South Tangerang.

'€œWe chose Taman Kerinci for the inaugural project because we feel it is the second- best park in Jakarta,'€ Ari said. (dyl/nvn)(+++)
