Online ticket booking site Tiket
nline ticket booking site Tiket.com is to focus on upgrading its mobile app and launching a new website this year, demand via mobile platforms having increased threefold in the last three months.
Tiket.com cofounder and chief communication officer Mikhael Gaery Undarsa said the major leap in mobile access offered an opportunity for better service.
Currently, the Tiket.com mobile app is available on Android Google Play and the iOS App Store, with the new version to be ready by April, Gaery said. The new app will feature a 'last-minute hotel' option, enabling travelers to book hotel rooms at late notice more easily.
'This option arises from the fact that many of our customers tend to book hotel rooms at the last minute when traveling,' he said on Monday.
To provide customers with this feature, Tiket.com is working with 10 hotels in five major cities, he added, with all partner hotels to provide discounts of between 40 and 70 percent discounts to travelers booking via Tiket.com.
At present, the 'last-minute hotel' feature will only be available for reserving rooms in Jakarta, Bandung, Bali, Yogyakarta and Surabaya, which Gaery explained were the five largest domestic travel destinations.
Meanwhile, he added, the company is currently preparing for the Idul Fitri exodus, with ticket-purchasing expected to begin at the end of this month. 'Usually, around 90 days before the exodus, more and more people start to buy tickets. We are ready and prepared for the rush, but it tends to be crowded even at the beginning of the season,' Gaery said.
Regarding the company's performance, Tiket.com aims to achieve overall growth of three times the figure it achieved in 2015. During that year, the company reportedly grew by 100 percent on a significant surge in hotel and travel ticket reservations. Hotel bookings through the site doubled from 2014, while flight reservations grew by 150 percent.
The company also managed to attract around three million users to its platform in 2015.
Earlier in January, the company announced a plan to expand its partnerships locally and internationally to take advantage of the growing e-commerce market in Indonesia, in light of the high demand for travel bookings in cities outside Jakarta.
The company has said it aims to increase its partnerships with hotels and airlines outside major Indonesian cities, and indeed outside Southeast Asia, but has not offered any elaboration.
Tiket.com has been active since 2013, and has, since its inception, reported growth rates of between 20 to 50 percent each month on ever-greater demand.
