View all search resultstate-owned Bank Mandiri has built synergy with PT Artajasa Pembayaran Elektronis (Artajasa) to help Bank Perkreditan Rakyat (BPR) and Bank Pembiayaan Rakyat Syariah (BPRS) integrate into the National Payment Gateway (NPG) to facilitate transaction processing.
Under the cooperation agreement, Bank Mandiri will serve as parent bank of BPR Karyajatnika Sadaya (BPR KS), which will enable it to connect to the NPG network through Antarjasa as a switching company that supports the connection. The collaboration is expected to further expand the NPG ecosystem.
The collaboration is aligned with Bank Indonesia Regulation (PBI) No. 19/8//2017 on the NPG, which requires that BPR and BPRS connect to the NPG through a public bank or public syariah bank.
According to Bank Mandiri’s retail banking and networking director Aquarius Rudianto, the collaboration has implemented Bank Mandiri’s vision to become the primary financial partner of choice for customers, including for BPR and BPRS.
With the synergy, BPR/BPRS are expected to further develop and are able to support the national payment system, which is not only smooth, safe, efficient and reliable, but is also adaptable to technological advancements and innovations, competitive and integrated.
“We hope that the collaboration is the beginning of how all the ecosystem of the BPR/BPRS can be integrated into the NPG and in this way the service standards of the BPR/BPRS can be enhanced to make them equal with those of the national banking industry,” said Aquarius.
Currently, Bank Mandiri welcomes and open its door to collaboration with other BPR and BPRS that have prepared product and service digitalization plans through Bank Mandiri as their parent bank.
He added that Bank Mandiri also expected that the collaboration with BPR KS could be expanded to cover other aspects so that this could help BPR KS maintain its consistency in the business and development of financial services for customers.
“Not only BPR KS, Bank Mandiri is ready to explore various digital banking collaboration initiatives that can be developed to fulfill the needs from other BPR/BPRS in Indonesia,” he said.
Digital banking
The contributing roles that Bank Mandiri has played in supporting the banking digitalization include the implementation of digital banking nationwide through the availability of digital services, which are currently spread through 13,000 ATMs, 176,000 EDC, 573,0000 QRIS merchants, and also several supporting programs beyond banking, namely Digiresto and Digiretail, Solusi Hunian Pintar (Smart Residence Solution), Yokkebiz, and not to be missed, the establishment of cashless ecosystems, one of which is in Taman Mini Indonesia Indah.
In 2020, Bank Mandiri recorded the processing of up to 2.9 billion electronic transactions, worth Rp 3,200 trillion. Of this value, switching network-based transactions reported an increase of 12 percent, compared with the value recorded in the corresponding period of 2019.
Bayu Hanantasena, president director of Antarjasa, said that the synergy between Antarjasa and Bank Mandiri aimed to provide a solution that would enable the BPR/BPRS to provide optimal services and connect to the NPG so that looking forward, bank digitalization solutions could also benefit customers of BPR and BPRS operating in Indonesia.
He added that the synergy between Antarjasa and Bank Mandiri reinforced the commitment to always engage in integrated and sustainable development and also enhance the competitiveness of the NPG and banking industry.
“With the collaboration of the service, Antarjasa as owner and operator of the ATM Bersama network continues to expand the penetration to BPR and BPRS that want to be connected and join the NPG. Connected BPR/BPRS joined with the NPG will provide many benefits, such as opening connections to other banks and in this way they are not only able to access the terminals of other banks but also to conduct transfer transactions between banks. Then the BPR/BPRS will become more efficient in operating ATMs because they won’t have to buy particular points and it also allows them to further expand their services for their customers,” Bayu added.
