ndosat Ooredoo Hutchison reported progressive results across most key performance indicators in the first quarter of 2025, despite navigating an extremely competitive and challenging industry environment. These outcomes reflect the company’s disciplined execution and continued commitment to supporting Indonesia’s digital and artificial intelligence development journey.
In the first quarter of 2025, Indosat’s positive average revenue per user (ARPU) growth, along with a continued increase in its customer base, demonstrated resilience in a challenging market environment. As a result, Indosat’s ARPU reached nearly Rp 39,200 (US$2.36), growing 4.6 percent year-on-year (yoy), while the company added 700 thousand new mobile customers compared to the previous quarter, bringing the total mobile customer base to 95.4 million.
The company recorded a stable total revenue of Rp 13.58 trillion, while EBITDA reached Rp 6.42 trillion—growing 0.6 percent quarter-on-quarter (qoq), supported by Indosat’s continued focus on cost discipline and smart execution. Net profit attributable to owners of the parent rose by 27 percent qoq to Rp 1.31 trillion, marking 17 consecutive quarters of profitability. These results reaffirm Indosat’s commitment to long-term value creation amid intensifying market competition.
“This quarter’s results reflect not only strong financial performance, but also the unwavering dedication of our entire team to serve the people of Indonesia. In an increasingly competitive landscape, we have remained focused on our larger purpose—empowering Indonesia,” expressed Vikram Sinha, President Director and Chief Executive Officer of Indosat Ooredoo Hutchison.
Vikram explained that in building the foundation for a digital and AI-driven nation, Indosat is laying the groundwork for Indonesia’s digital future by expanding its mobile infrastructure nationwide—with a focus on high-capacity, AI-ready networks. Through continued investments in 4G and preparations for 5G, Indosat is enabling broader, faster and more reliable access to digital services, particularly in underserved areas. This infrastructure is not only vital for connectivity, but also essential for powering the technologies that will drive Indonesia’s next wave of transformation: AI, IoT, cloud computing and digital platforms.
During the quarter, the company allocated Rp 2.62 trillion in capital expenditure, with 90.4 percent directed toward its cellular business. Indosat’s total number of 4G BTS rose to 202,179—a 10 percent increase yoy—helping expand digital access and improve service quality across the nation.
At Mobile World Congress 2025 in Barcelona, Indosat announced a landmark collaboration with Nokia and NVIDIA, becoming the first operator in Southeast Asia—and third globally—to commercially deploy AI-RAN technology. This innovation enhances Indosat’s 5G Cloud RAN with AI, improving network efficiency, reducing energy use and elevating service quality.
Indosat also hosted Indonesia AI Day for the Mining Industry, uniting stakeholders to explore AI, 5G and IoT solutions for greater sustainability and efficiency in the sector.
Empowering Indonesia through digital lifestyle enablement and talent development
Indosat’s commitment to empowering Indonesia took a significant step forward with the launch of the Digital Hub in February 2025. Designed as an integrated ecosystem, the Digital Hub brought together curated offerings across entertainment, e-commerce, health and lifestyle—enriching the daily digital experience of millions. This initiative quickly gained traction, reflected in the strong customer engagement across Indosat’s platforms, with over 50 million monthly active users and 10 million daily users on myIM3 and bima+.
Indosat’s ambition goes beyond digital lifestyle enablement. At the heart of this movement lies a firm belief that technology must be inclusive and accessible to all. Building on the momentum from the Digital Hub, Indosat has continued to expand its nationwide talent development programs, such as Generasi TerkonekSI (GenSi) and IDCamp. These initiatives are equipping young Indonesians with essential skills in AI, automation and digital leadership—capabilities that are increasingly critical in the evolving job market. Backed by globally recognized certifications, these programs are creating real pathways to opportunity for the next generation.
This integrated approach—connecting digital lifestyle empowerment with talent development—underscores Indosat’s broader transformation journey. As a key player in Indonesia’s digital and AI ecosystem, Indosat is accelerating its evolution into an AI-driven TelCo and TechCo. This vision is being realized through strategic investments in advanced technologies, scaling inclusive education initiatives and nurturing a robust ecosystem that promotes AI innovation and automation.
As the company continues to drive industry-wide collaborations, it stands at the forefront of Indonesia’s digital transformation, paving the way for an inclusive, sustainable and prosperous future powered by technology.
“Our journey to become an AI-TechCo has just begun. From investing in networks and talent to driving collaboration across industries, our goal remains the same: to make technology a force for inclusion, innovation and digital sovereignty,” concluded Vikram.
