ide-hailing application Grab Indonesia has launched a new cashless payment option, allowing users to pay for Grab services using credits instead of cash or credit card.

Grab Indonesia managing director Ridzki Kramadibrata told tempo.co that GrabPay Credits aimed to increase the comfort and security of paying without cash, which applied to both passengers and drivers.

The convenience of this feature, Ridzki said, was that passengers would not need to use cash or wait for their change at the end of their trips. They also would not need to bring a lot of cash with them if they had topped up their GrabPay account with enough credits.

Ridzki added that the company's risk and fraud detection system had been improved with the addition of more advanced machine-learning technology, which was the next evolutionary step from analysis that only accumulated transaction information, user data and trip patterns. (mra/kes)
