Jakarta Governor Basuki "Ahok" Tjahaja Purnama has been the year's most searched person on Google in Indonesia.

Tempo.co reported that searches for Ahok surged from October 30 until November 5.

Google revealed on Wednesday the people most often entered into its search engine in its annual release of trends, Year in Search. In Indonesia, the list was dominated by political figures. Following Ahok, Finance Minister Sri Mulyani and the uploader of Ahok's blasphemy video Buni Yani are in the top three.

Cyanide poisoning victim Wayan Mirna Salihin was also one of the most searched people on Google in 2016.
