Earlier this week, navigation app Waze has announced a partnership with music streaming service Spotify.

When Spotify users use the Waze app, they will be able to access their music and playlists within Waze, thus no longer have to switch between the apps. Once the apps are connected, users will see a Spotify logo in the corner, and from there they will be able to control their music. Within the Spotify app, users will also be able to launch Waze from the Spotify’s drive mode screen.

So far, this integration will only be available to Android users.

The Google-owned app is not the first company that Spotify has partnered with. In the past, they’ve teamed up with Uber and released a feature that allows riders to take charge of the music in the car. They’ve also partnered with Tinder to help match people based on music tastes.

Despite the fact that Google and Spotify are competitors, seeing as both companies oversee a music streaming service, the partnership is not to bring in users for either app. Instead, it serves as a way for current users to stay safe as well as save time. As the Waze blog explains, there will be “no more awkward flipping back-and-forth between apps or ending your favorite Friday-in-traffic tune to find the quickest way to the grocery store.” (sul/kes)
