“I wish for the young generation to understand that differences in Indonesia have been around since forever, and it was so enchanting to be able to apply them to the motif,” said Didit in Jakarta on Monday to kompas.com

Didiet also said each color in the motif had its own meaning.

Green depicts Indonesia’s nature, brown represents coffee beans, light brown is similar to the fertile Indonesian soil, yellow symbolizes Indonesia being on the equator and blue is the ocean.

“What I envision is that not only can people buy the merchandise to bring home, but they also bring the story and meanings behind them,” he said.

Anthony Cottan, director of Starbucks Indonesia, said the collaboration was part of Starbucks’ support for Indonesian culture.

"We want Starbucks Indonesia to be authentic, just like Indonesia, with the standard quality of Starbucks international,” he said.

The collection is available at all Starbucks in Indonesia, with prices ranging from Rp 75,000 to Rp 305,000. (wng)
