olitical commentary has become ubiquitous in this day and age. They can come in different shapes and sizes and can be found in virtually every form of media, from feature-length films and plays to comic strips.
Society has become more aware of political issues, and the increasing presence of political commentary within the media is proof of that.
Novels are no exception. Known for their aptitude of stringing together fragments of facts and other bits of information, novels can be considered as one of the sources of political commentary.
In some cases, novels can contain the author’s subjective thoughts and perspectives.
One such example is author Mohamad Sobary’s latest novel, The President.
Sobary, who has written for numerous newspapers in Indonesia, is known for his eccentric style of writing, used to express his displeasure toward the government.
His goal has always been to fight injustice.
