hysical distancing, self-quarantine and working from home can all affect your well-being. When you can, it advisable to take a break and indulge yourself with these various beauty treatments that can be done from home, as recommended by beauty experts from Anantara Hotels, Resorts and Spas.

Tomato face mask

Tomato is able to brighten and soothe your skin, while honey is beneficial for skin hydration. The face mask is good for those who have dull skin and want to reduce the appearance of blemishes.

Ingredients:

  • ½ ripe tomato
  • 1 tbsp honey

Method:

Smash tomato and combine it with honey to make a paste. While avoiding the eye area, apply the mask onto your face and leave on for 15 minutes.

It’s recommended to wash it off using cold water and gently dry your face with a towel.

Coffee and honey face scrub

Instead of throwing away your coffee grounds, you can use them to make a face scrub. Coffee is said to be rich in anti-aging properties, while honey is good for keeping your skin moist. Apart from a face scrub, the mixture can also be used as a face wash.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp coffee grounds
  • 3 tbsp honey

Method:

Mix coffee and honey until it reaches sticky a cream-like consistency. You can add a bit of coconut oil if you have dry skin.

For face scrub, leave the mixture on your face for 15 minutes before rinsing it off.

Cooling cucumber and yoghurt face mask

Cucumber and yoghurt are a calming combination for your skin. Cucumber has been used to reduce puffiness while yoghurt is able to refresh your skin.

Ingredients:

  • ½ cucumber, grated
  • 2 tbsp of plain natural yoghurt

Method:

Blend cucumber and yoghurt, apply the mixture to your face and neck. After 20 minutes, remove the mask from your face with cold water.

It is recommended to use this face mask three times a week for better results.

Lips scrub and moisturizer

Lips are among the parts of your body that are often taken for granted, but they’re actually sensitive and susceptible to dryness. Using a lip scrub is one of the ways you can keep your lips smooth and supple, and is especially good for removing dead skin cells. It’s recommended to apply moisturizer after the lip scrub.

Ingredients:

  • 1 tbsp brown sugar
  • 1 tsp lime juice
  • 2 tbsp honey
  • A drop of flavored extract (optional)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil

Method:

For the lip scrub, mix brown sugar, lime and honey in a small container. If you want, you can add a drop of flavored extract (such as vanilla or mint) to the mixture.

Spread the scrub mixture on your lips with a toothbrush and rub it in light, circular motion. Leave it for 10 minutes before washing it off with warm water.

To make lip moisturizer, combine honey and olive oil in a container and mix it well. You can use your finger to apply the moisturizer to your lips before letting it absorb through your skin.

Frizz-reducing hair mask

Taming frizzy hair can be tricky, especially if you stay in an air conditioned room for a long period of time, which can dry out your hair. As the name suggests, this hair mask will help reduce frizz from your hair.

Ingredients:

  • 1 avocado
  • ¼ cup olive oil
  • Lemon juice (from 1 lemon)

Method:

Mix all ingredients well, spread the mixture evenly on your damp hair using a comb and leave it for 20 minutes. Wash off the mask with slightly warm water.

Mask for damaged hair

Damaged hair can also be tricky. This hair mask uses simple ingredients with immense benefits for your hair: yoghurt and eggs are rich in protein to nourish your hair, coconut oil is good for making your hair more manageable and banana is beneficial to promote hair growth.

Ingredients:

  • ¼ cup yoghurt
  • 2 eggs
  • ¼ cup coconut oil
  • 1 banana
  • 1 tbsp honey

Method:

Put all ingredients in a blender, then blend well. Spread the mixture on your hair and leave it for 15 minutes. Wash it off using lukewarm water. (wir/wng)
